01The verse

“That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, Art the Most High over all the earth.”

Psalm 83:18 · ASV

02Meaning

The psalmist prays that people would come to know God not just as a remote power but by name — and recognise his supreme position. Some Bibles replace the name with “LORD,” but the original text contains God’s name.

03Context

The psalm describes nations conspiring against God’s people. The writer asks God to act, not for revenge, but so that people would acknowledge who he really is.
