01God is not the cause
The Bible says that God never uses evil to test people.
“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempteth no man.”
James 1:13 · ASV
Much suffering comes from human choices, from “time and chance” (Ecclesiastes 9:11), and from the influence of a wicked spirit who, the Bible says, presently has great power over the world (1 John 5:19).
02Why hasn’t he stopped it yet?
In Eden, God’s right to rule was challenged. Allowing time has shown the result of humans ruling themselves apart from him. That question is nearly settled, and God has promised to undo all the damage.
03What God will do
“And he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away.”
Revelation 21:4 · ASV
Until then, God gives comfort and strength to those who turn to him. “Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart” (Psalm 34:18).
